From the town of Opicina, following the SP 9 that leads to Monrupino, you come across the Percedol basin on the right, a karst sinkhole about 400 meters long and about 270 meters wide.

The microclimate of the basin is progressively colder and more humid than the external one, a change that is also reflected in the vegetation, so much so that from hop hornbeam and ash on the outer edges, it passes down to Turkey oak and white hornbeam. At the bottom of the basin there is the pond, the best known of the whole Karst, on whose banks a great variety of spontaneous plants alternate, such as water lily and ladle, or planted by man, such as white, Greek, red fir, goat willow and crying.

The pond has a depth of 3 meters and a maximum width of 38 meters. Its formation is probably due to the presence of an impermeable bed formed by flysch and the accumulation of compacted red earth.

Since 1984 the area has been subject to environmental protection due to the numerous faunal rarities represented above all by amphibians and dragonflies.
