The wire of death, made by Wesley Meuris from Mortsel, is not a reconstruction but an artistic interpretation.

It shows an abstract representation of the thread, with a line running through the landscape illuminated by points of light. The reflective strip in the ground symbolizes the electricity wires, while the white rings on the posts refer to the porcelain insulators.

This work of art cuts, as it were, through the landscape and creates a dividing line. Although today we can walk freely from one side to the other, this was not always the case. The artwork emphasizes the power and impact of boundaries between areas, cultures, population groups, and so on.

Although the border is still present, it is now experienced in a completely different way.
