And now the truth !!!!
A hiker was on his way to the Rüdenberg when he saw a stone carved and marked with imprints and thought to himself that I call it the devil's stone. He also resorted to legends with the devil, so that this stone would also delight other hikers, after all it had to be a highlight. And really many other hikers get into this nonsense, because after all it had to be a highlight.
The real Teufelsstein is not on the hiking trail.
It is a surface natural monument, it is one of the sun sanctuaries of Upper Lusatia, they are calendar-astronomical stone formations. These stones have a gap or an opening (usually called a sun gate) through which the sun shines at different angles, so it was possible to determine the seasons.
Legends and traditions are not known. As a calendar solar event, the WSW. known.
The stone that is shown here in the highlight does not have this, nor does it have a sign with an owl, it is a fake.
The real devil's stone was researched as part of the project Götterhand by the specialist group for archaeoatronomy of the observatory Bruno-H.-Bürgel. This project was funded by the Leader Region Bautzener Oberland and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
I've added a photo of the real Teufelsstein.
