The Villa Romana complex in Torre, identified and excavated in a non-scientific manner in the 1950s, was subsequently the subject of investigations and restoration and maintenance interventions by the Superintendency in the 1980s and 1990s.

It is distinguished by its productive and residential value, as demonstrated not only by archaeological materials, but also by its strategic location in an area rich in resources, well connected by navigable rivers and important roads. The villa is located in an area of Cisalpine Gaul that became part of the Roman orbit from the 2nd century BC. It was built in the 1st century BC, when it was possible for Roman private individuals to express their prestige and wealth through construction. Its construction took place on unstable ground. Originally, there was space for a resurgence of the Noncello river. The surrounding environment always maintained a precarious condition, so much so that in the 2nd century AD the villa was damaged by a flood and for this reason abandoned.
