937 Großwinternheim is mentioned for the first time in a document. The church tower dates from around this time. A Carolingian window in the Ingelheim Museum and a lost baptismal font with Roman script suggest that a church was built in the 7th or 8th century.

The hall of the Catholic Church, which is closed on three sides, dates from the years 1760-64. There is an undivided tower at the southwest corner.
