The seven stone houses were like the other megalithic tombs of northern Germany in the second half of the third millennium BC. Built by people of funnel beaker culture. This was the population that introduced the peasant economy in North German lowland. One of the capstones has huge dimensions of 4.6 x 4.2 m and a thickness of half a meter. Every single grave was the burial ground of a clan or a family for more than 1,000 years.
