These 5000-year-old graves are among the most important archaeological monuments between Hamburg and Hanover and have been listed as historical monuments since 1832. They are located in the middle of the Bergen military training area, surrounded by a fascinating landscape.
**Important information for your visit:**
- The only public access begins at a post with a barrier in Ostenholz, about 4 kilometers southeast of the Walsrode motorway triangle.
- The access road leads through several kilometers of the military training area's restricted area, which is regularly cleared of ammunition residues.
- Please find out about the current shooting times to avoid possible closed passageways.
The burial site dates from the time of the Neolithic Funnel Beaker culture and was built around 2500 BC by the first settled farmers.
