The Silberberg is not only an insider tip for hikers, the rare and strictly protected capercaillie also appreciate the altitude with large areas of blueberry stocks. To protect the population, the cliff path through the protective forest was closed for a long time. For sure-footed hikers, the wonderful panoramic path has been made accessible again by the Black Forest Association without disturbing the capercaillie.

One of the most beautiful alpine paths in the Black Forest. In damp conditions, sturdy footwear is mandatory. In between there are passages where you shouldn't slip because the slope drops steeply. In addition, the path is anything but overcrowded, which has become rare in the Black Forest 🦊

At a few meters it becomes almost alpine. The terrain is not overly difficult, but it is demanding. Proper footwear and a minimum of surefootedness are strongly recommended.

The Felsenweg here is really great, and is only in two places sure to overcome, otherwise you run here a nice cozy round. The accessibility of the highlight is however something for the long day's march, or one runs from Gisiboden along direction Feldberg and then back with the public ones. In the middle of it there is a super nice view directly on Todtnau. If you follow the path to the end, you can take a break at the Todtnauer ski hut and plan your way back.

Unfortunately, the path can not be used for planning at Komoot. The guidebooks like to compare it to alpine trails: Do not be afraid you have to take a big step from time to time and watch where you step, but the path is easy to walk on

The path runs along a steep slope in places, but is by no means exposed. However, it is certainly strenuous and requires surefootedness and sensible footwear due to countless tree roots and rocks as well as some rocky steps!
