In Mettmann's east lies Mettmann-Stadtwald, which has a train station that was opened in 1879 and was only called Mettmann at the time Mettmanner Bach has its source near Wülfrath and flows into the Düssel after 10km near the Neanderthal Museum.The Mettmann city forest with its walking paths invites you to linger.

The Goldberger Mühle is one of the oldest and prettiest houses in Mettmann and is located on the Goldberger Teich. The mill with a slated hipped mansard roof and dormers dates back to 1450, as can be seen from a deed of lien. 1880-82 the mill received the tower with an oven. The Goldberger mill survived a farm fire and was put back into operation in 1944. After it finally ended in 1954, it was used as a residential building and threatened to fall into disrepair in the years that followed. To stop this, an association was founded to set up the mill, which is now used for events. ..."
