                    The B 96 and Black Elster tunnels were completed first. In 2011 the Black Elster was relocated and then the lock was built. The first ship was able to pass through the canal on June 1st, 2013. The two prime ministers of Saxony and Brandenburg were on board. The artificial channel is operated by the ZV LSB. The canal structure is 1,050 meters long.
