Well-made, informative site about the Meuro open-cast mine. The towns of Sauo, Rauno and Reppist as well as Bückgen, which later became Großräschen-Süd, were completely excavated; boulders and metal plaques commemorate the towns. The Reppist open-cast mine viewing point is located on the 129-meter-high artificial hill on the land of the former village of Reppist.

Parts of large equipment and information boards, boulders with the region's former briquette factories.
In the middle of the former Meuro opencast mine.
The access roads are currently asphalted, the AP is currently being redesigned, the old hut and the pit model have been demolished (May 2021), the boulders with the BK factories have been preserved.

When walking around the lake, the viewpoint is an absolute must. You have a great view over the lake, there is a small, slowly decaying hut and some interesting information about the area and the opencast mining. When you're nearby. you shouldn't miss this view.

The Reppister Höhe viewpoint on the southern shore of Lake Großräschen offers a wide view over the Lusatian landscape, with the town of Senftenberg in the south and Großräschen on the opposite shore of the lake in the north. The seven places excavated for the Meuro opencast mine are reminiscent of their outlines on a scale of 1:150 as well as steles with the place names: Bückgen, Großräschen-Süd, Anna-Mathilde, Rauno, Reppist, Sauo and Birkenhain.
As a further symbol of the mining region, there is a steel frame from the Lauchhammerwerk including an excavator bucket at the viewing point.

Newly created near-natural environment, you can already find a lot of deer and wild boar tracks after rain. A beautiful view from a hill of the Großräschener See - for that reason alone a highlight in this flat landscape.
