It probably has its origins in a Staufian ministerial residence, on the foundation of which a residential tower was built at the beginning of the 14th century. In 1361 it was first referred to as the "stainhaus" of the patrician Berlin family. The entire complex comprises a four-wing complex grouped around an inner courtyard. ...”
