The Plague Column is a reminder and memory of the plague that broke out in Trenčín in 1710. The Plague Column was built in 1712 at the initiative of Count Mikuláš Ilešházyi. The work was probably created by the Viennese master masons, who were then working in the city on the reconstruction of the Jesuit church (today the Piarist church).
