The building of the Renaissance burgher's house (it existed as a stone house probably already in 1607) is the only preserved building of this type in Trenčín, largely intact by later reconstructions. It represents a characteristic middle-class house with a circular living room, in which both the living space and the economic-production part and the black kitchen were located.
Executioner's house, "Katovňa", or "House of the city executioner", as its adopted traditional name suggests, is historically and by urban tradition associated with the administration of justice and prison. To what extent this connection is justified is not entirely clear. According to some data, at the end of the 19th century, the town clerk lived in this house, and for a while there was also a prison here. Some state that in the 16th-17th centuries it actually served as the residence of the city's executioner.

An interesting monument where there is a museum and various exhibitions take place there. The executioner's house in Trenčín is definitely worth seeing.
