St. Martin Church in Leißling

The Protestant St. Mary's Church is a listed church in the Leißling district of the city of Weißenfels in Saxony-Anhalt. It belongs to the parish office Weißenfels-Südost in the parish of Merseburg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany. In the local register of monuments, the building is listed as a monument under registration number 094 15399.

The namesake of the church is Saint Mary. The church was built as a Romanesque choir tower church. The church was rebuilt during the baroque period. The church tower was raised by an octagonal tower. The nave, built between 1713 and 1716, extends almost to the roof dome.

The evangelical St. Mary's Church is a Romanesque chancel tower church with the oldest construction phases from the 12th century. In the Baroque period in the 18th century extensive conversions and partial new constructions took place with a nave in the form of a hall church. Since then, the very high roof of the nave has almost reached up to the dome of the tower.
