The Lumignano Cross stands on the edge of a sheer rock face, overlooking and crowning the town of the same name. Despite its modest altitude (243m), it offers a beautiful and unusual vantage point over the village below, the valley entrance, the plain, and the Euganean Hills on the horizon. Thirty-three million years ago, this imposing vertical face of the eastern Berici Hills was a coral reef bordering a vast tropical sea!

The 5m-high cross is composed of two interlocking concrete elements. It was erected in 1882, but was replaced a year later after being damaged by lightning. The cliff below is a well-known and popular climbing gym, both nationally and internationally.

There are no safety features, so extreme caution is required when approaching the edge of the precipice.
