The sad news first: No, you cannot visit this magnificent castle, only a few days a year on special occasions. Today the building belongs to the West Flemish Province and is used by various landscape and nature conservation organizations. The ten mayors of the Bruges region also meet regularly in the castle for joint meetings.

Until 1978, however, various noble families actually lived here. On the ground floor there is a reception room, the Louis XV style oak staircase. as well as the meeting rooms in the 18th-century drawing rooms. The cellars from the 14th century with their thick walls and brick cross rib vaults have also been preserved in their original condition.

The current castle is a remnant of a medieval, four-sided moated castle, the four basement wings of which enclosed a courtyard and were provided with a four-sided tower on each corner; in the center of the front wing stood a large tower. Now all that remains is a west wing, renovated in the 19th century, with a neo-Gothic tower at the front and an equally neo-Gothic extension with two shorter side wings at the rear; Of the other wings, only the basement floor has been preserved.
