The Hageland with its Wijngaardberg in Wezemaal managed to please us. With the blessing of Martin and Job we went up the mountainside without fear of contamination. Flemish Tuscany. The missed holiday feeling was satisfied almost immediately. (Our first steep path was a miss due to euphoria).

Immediately repacked, dropped and climbed the correct steep mountain trail. Beautiful vistas were our part. Once at the top, 'The Stone Wall' is conquered without any problems. On top of the mountain, stroll through different types of orchards. Here we must come back in blossom time. Hollow roads lead us to the north side. Impressed, we descend majestically. Old stately beech trees resemble the pillars of a cathedral. They reach for the heavens and prop up the firmament. The leaf roof provides protection and cooling on hot days. You can experience the Wijngaardberg in every season. We are again an experience richer... It has done well 🍇🍷🍷

High on the Wijngaardberg, in the midst of untouched nature, stands the majestic, 10 meter high H. Hartbeeld. The imposing statue of Christ, which extends its hands protectively over Wezemaal, impresses many hikers. In the past, the windmill of Wezemaal stood here, high above Wezemaal. Farmers from Wezemaal could have their grain milled here. He burned out completely. For years this place was the favorite playground for children. In that period there was great devotion to the Sacred Heart and within the parish community the idea grew to place a Sacred Heart statue on this bare spot. The parishioners collected the necessary money and in 1925 they started diligently building the statue.

The statue, a work of art by sculptor M. Van de Capelle from Anderlecht, was solemnly inaugurated on September 5, 1926.
