On Tuesday, September 22, 2020, Minister of Nature Zuhal Demir opened the seventh nature oasis in Flanders in Holsbeek. A natural oasis is a place where the focus is entirely on tranquility and where slowness is an asset. The concept comes from Japan, where forest bathing has been nationally renowned for some time. In the Chartreu-Zen-Bos nature oasis, wooden meditation symbols along a walking loop invite you to relax.
At the start of the natural oasis at the Chartreuzenbos, in addition to an impressive welcoming arch, you will find an information board that will help you on your way. Along the way, wooden rest objects, made by Woodenart and social employment De Winning, invite you to sit, lie, hang, rest,... The objects are made of local wood from the forest itself. In addition, the company Groenwerken VDW created an artistic spiritual labyrinth along the route in the typical iron sandstone of the region.
This natural oasis differs from the other natural oases due to the unique combination of various forms of experience: beautiful nature experience, relaxing ZEN experience via a walking path with exceptional energy charging points and cultural experience through artistic land art.
