The beach lies adjacent to the remains of Mangrove Point jetty and is backed by a large car park, a park including a kiosk and playground and the Broome caravan park. The beach is 200 m long, and is fringed by a small jetty and mangrove-covered rock flats. The beach itself has a steep high tide beach and extensive tidal flats, which on a full moon is the site of the ‘stair of the moon’ moonlight display, an event which attracts a crowd every full moon.
