The Cable Beach is one of Broome's hot spots. A 'must' so to speak. A special event is local when the "Stairway to the Moon," or "Staircase to the Moon" occurs. This natural spectacle can be seen along the northern coastline of Western Australia when the full moon rises over the coast at low tide. In Broom it is a real spectacle. People then gather on the beach. As most have learned, if they have already climbed this far, this means for the Australians that 4WD is also used extensively on the beach. This is simply part of it.
