The preserved watchtower 9/75 stands east of Mönchsberg in the "Hofbergle" forest district on a small terrace at the edge of a mountain ledge. It is approximately 3.70 m wide on average and has walls between 70 and 80 cm thick. The wall shell of the southern inner wall is constructed using the herringbone technique, a construction method known as "opus spicatum," which is commonly observed in Roman masonry.

In Roman times, the tower was surrounded by a 1 m wide ditch and stood close to the Limes wall. The distance to the bottom of the Limes ditch is approximately 8.5 m, and the palisade ran a further 2 m away. The tower was excavated and preserved in 1971. When excavations began, the original masonry was still 1.0 m to 1.60 m high. Just outside the Limes, the remains of another ditch with embankment can be seen, the origin and purpose of which are still unclear.

Just a few meters beyond the Limes—and thus outside the Roman Empire—another rampart with a shallow ditch can still be seen today. This is not an additional Roman border fortification, but rather the remains of the Landwehr (land defense) built by the imperial city of Schwäbisch Hall in the late Middle Ages. It has a minimum circumference of 185 km and initially served as a defensive line, later more as a legal border. Interestingly, the so-called Haller Landhege (Haller Landhege) runs exactly parallel to the Roman Limes between Mönchsberg and Mainhardt.
