Replica of a watchtower on the Limes. Nearby, the foundations of a Roman stone tower were found. Nice point for a break, nice view over the surroundings. The tower is not very authentic, because the original at this location was made of stone. Nevertheless rewarding, because here you can see something more than a ditch in the forest.

The Roman watchtower, "Römergraben, WP 9/64 is located between Neuwirtshaus and Gailsbach (Mainhardt municipality) on the L1050, in the Schwäbisch Hall district in Baden-Württemberg.
- The original stone tower was found during archaeological excavations in 1894
- the walls were about 50 centimeters high, square with a side length of 3.60 meters and about 65 centimeters thick
- since 1971 there is a wooden observation tower
- the replica was moved a few meters from the original location
- Neither timber nor log construction is in keeping with the standards of the time, when the tower was built stones were probably used.
- so far renovated 3x (1981, 1997 + 2016)
- the tower construction is made of larch wood
