    The Château de Montsoreau has been immortalized many times, notably by Alexandre Dumas in his novel La Dame de Monsoreau, written between 1845 and 1846.

    Above all, since 2016 Montsoreau has been a Museum of Contemporary Art with the world's largest collection of works from the Art and Language movement. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

      There are various art exhibitions in the castle, including the artist collective Art & Language. You can visit the castle's own bookshop or visit the wine cellar. Throughout the year, the castle is the venue for various events.

      Opening hours:
      The castle is open from March 6th to November 5th. Also, from 23rd December to 7th January.
      From 6.3.-31.3. and from 1.10.-20.10. The castle is open Saturdays and Sundays from 12 to 18 o'clock.
      April from 12 to 19 o'clock open. On Tuesdays it is closed.
      May and June from 10am to 7pm. On Tuesdays it is closed.
      July to September 20 from 10am to 7pm.
      21.9. until 30.09. open from 12 to 18 o'clock. It is closed on Tuesdays.

          The Château de Montsoreau is located in the department of Maine-et-Loire, in the Pays de la Loire region, in France. It is located on the banks of the Loire, near the town of Saumur.

          Built in the 15th century, the castle of Montsoreau is one of the rare castles of the Loire built in the major bed of the river. It has been the scene of many battles and has known several owners over the centuries, including the famous family of the Dukes of Anjou.

          In the 19th century, the castle was transformed into a prison, then into accommodation for the guards of the nearby bridge. In the 20th century, it became the center of a contemporary art movement called Art in the Raw.

          Today, the Château de Montsoreau houses a museum of contemporary art and is open to the public for guided tours. Visitors can admire the historical rooms of the castle as well as the modern works of art displayed in the exhibition halls. The view of the Loire from the castle is also magnificent and deserves to be contemplated.
