In the so-called "bad times" (1918 to 1930) there was a lot of smuggler traffic in this area. After the Second World War until the border was opened, mainly STROH rum was smuggled into Germany. Today, the natural spectacle of the imposing dust fall, the backdrop of the meandering mountain stream and the Heutal high valley with its alpine pastures and inns are the destinations of hikers.

You should cycle the 5.5km to the entrance. Otherwise, children can quickly get bored. The climb is not too difficult and can be done by children aged 5 and over. The Staubfall is a magnificent natural spectacle and is highly recommended.

Beautiful path from the hiking area Holzknechtmuseum near Ruhpolding towards Heutal (Austria). The path is not too difficult to manage, but you do have to walk a bit uphill to get to the waterfall.
I rode the first part on an e-bike, about 5 km. After that, you need to be a bit sure-footed to get to the waterfall. Shortly before the waterfall, you enter the Republic of Austria. A wooden footbridge leads past the waterfall to the Fischbachfall.
