From the small Staffelberg in the direction of Vierzehnheiligen, there is a short climb to be mastered. Only for experienced hikers.

For little adventurers, the Alte Staffelberg on the northeastern side of a light Kraxelei ready. If you prefer to take it easy you will reach a meadow up to the back of the mountain with information board and resting bench.

Definitely worth the climb, because you should not miss the view! You will also meet the footsteps of the Celts, who once built a fortification on the northern plateau.

The ascent and descent is steep and difficult on all sides, but above you have a beautiful view of the main valley, Banz and Vierzehnheiligen. There is a bench on the approx. 200m long ridge where you can rest and enjoy the peace

The hike across the plateau to the Staffelberg plateau is relatively boring. Better walkers can take a route over the "Old Staffelberg" and the "Spitzberg".
In the short climb to the north side of the AS (recommendation) you have to scramble a bit. The view up is wonderful and far from Kloster Banz in the west to Kordigast in the east!
Wall and ditch remains on the AS are no longer so clearly visible.
Over the AS there is a path in the whole length. The southern tip is not worth it because it is completely overgrown. However, you can go down from there opposite the map and find the normal trail.

The old Staffelberg may have served as an outpost for the fortifications on the Staffelberg. From the north side you can only get the last few meters with a small but safe climb on the rocks. The view is the deserved reward.

At the "entry" on the northeastern side there is the note "Only for experienced hikers" ... that is a bit of an understatement. In damp, muddy weather, it is a relative challenge when the path is softly sprung with leaves. As already described before me ... there is a narrow point with a larger boulder just below the summit. Either "the hiker" is able to climb it skilfully ... or "slippery" between rock face and boulder. Otherwise it's over. If you have extensive photo equipment, I recommend the other ways. Otherwise a fantastic view, especially with clear visibility. More interesting than on the Staffelberg.

Somewhat pithy ascent from the north-east, very easy ascent from the south. The view is great, here is a rest bench under a gnarled apple tree with a view to the north to the Banz monastery with the Schonbrunn lakes, very picturesque!

The old Staffelberg is in no way subject to its big brother, the Staffelberg, the ascent is worth it! It consists of two rocky hills at the northeast and southwest ends and has a saddle-shaped depression in the middle. The plateau is smaller and it is mostly forested.

You should only go up here if you are wearing suitable footwear. A great path in the 'short & sweet' category. If you love rocks, this is the place for you. I recommend the 'normal' hiking trail going down.

Personally, I like the old Staffelberg much better than the more famous and crowded Staffelberg.
You are usually alone here and can enjoy the view.

You have to climb a bit, but it's not rocket science.
