    Minster Church St. Alexandri
    Late Gothic hall church. Built from 1275 - 1506. Predecessor building around 1100. Until the Reformation pilgrimage church. On the outer walls numerous stonemasons and grinding grooves. Baroque helmet tower 1735. Inside: oldest dated and completely preserved choir stalls of Germany 1288, gothic candelabra 1420, baptismal font 1427, altar of St. Marien around 1500, epitaphs from 16th and 17th century.

      Construction and life in the Middle Ages
      Over 200 years (1290-1506) the Einbecker needed the completion of the largest hall church in Northern Germany. Seven generations worked on her. Steinmetzzeichen on the outer wall testify to it. The funds were not enough for a planned massive twin-tower system. So a baroque hood completed the construction. The church thus has its typical stocky shape.
      The pin was connected to a Latin school, which was one of the most famous North Germany. In the year of the big fire in 1540, the convent building, school and library burned down. In 1545 the monastery became Protestant - not entirely voluntary. Previously, a visitation had exposed the canons' complete ignorance of biblical and spiritual issues.

          The imposing Minster Church is located in Einbeck's old town.
          The Collegiate Church of St. Alexandri, also known as the Minster Church, was built between 1275 and 1508 as a three-aisled hall church on a much smaller, Romanesque predecessor building. The founder of the collegiate monastery in honor of St. Alexander was Count Dietrich II of Katlenburg in the 11th century. The monastery and the associated buildings had their own administration and jurisdiction in an area of what was known as the "freedom of the monastery".

          Special sights inside the church are as follows:
          the Holy Blood or baptistery with reliquary and Gothic baptismal font (1427)
          the choir stalls (1288)
          the wheel chandelier (1420)
          the various tombstones and epitaphs of the Einbeck patrician families
          the Thomas chapel with the altar of Mary
          the wooden statue of Saint Alexander
          the crypt with modern stained glass
          the special, almost fully sculpted keystones and console stones
