Lake Plauer is the third largest lake in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the seventh largest lake in Germany. With its 39 km², Lake Plauer is a real bathing and water sports paradise. Swimming, sailing, surfing, diving, paddling, sailing across the water as a recreational captain or simply casting a fishing rod - all of this can be experienced on, in and around Lake Plauer.

The Plauer See is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Mecklenburg Lake District, a water landscape formed during the Ice Age. It has a north-south extension of about 15 kilometers and an average depth of 6.8 meters, the deepest point is 25.5 meters. With its wide, natural shores and quiet bays, the lake offers a safe home for ospreys, sea eagles, snipes, reed warblers, kingfishers, pendulum tits, cranes, gray shrikes, bitterns, otters, hermits and bellied nappy snails.
