        The Plauer Stadtwald nature reserve is a 315-hectare nature reserve south of Plau am See and was designated on February 16, 1996.
        The meadows have been extensively managed as hay meadows since 1996. A forest use of the beech forests takes place. Access to the areas is possible in several ways. The Plauer Stadtwald is a local recreation area. A nature trail provides information about the special features of the area.

          The Plauer Stadtwald lies at an altitude of 62 to 80 m above sea level, immediately south of the town of Plau am See. The nature reserve is characterized by Ice Age drainage channels and ridges. In the area lie a Slavic
          Burgwall as well as remains of landwehr and an old grain farm in the village of Gaarz. Due to the good accessibility and the proximity to the city, the Plau city forest is ideal for local recreation. The area is served by
          Foot and cycle paths as well as a nature trail criss-crossed.
