Here you will find a beautiful and modern observation hut that was installed in September 2018. It offers a view of the entire pond which is part of a nature project by Natagora. In the viewing hut you will also find a series of information panels that also tell you something about the pond itself, the life around the pond and the fauna and flora in general. The name of the observation spot refers to José Schyns, the first curator of the committee for the management of the Bel en Berwijn nature reserve, named after the two watercourses. This project is located near the Val Dieu mill (opposite the abbey) and started at the end of 2010 when Natagora signed a management agreement with the owners of that mill. The Bel en Berwijn nature reserve covers a total of 7.5 hectares and is part of the hiking trail that Natagora has mapped out.
