    The Neo-Renaissance castle, now used as a hotel, was built in 1893 for Count Douglas and is notable for its striking exterior. The largely preserved interior is worth seeing. It was partly designed by the painter and architect Henry van de Velde, a prominent Art Nouveau artist. From the castle's grand staircase, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the expansive castle grounds, the open-air stage of the Störtebeker Festival, and the Great Jasmund Lagoon.

      The castle was built at the end of the 19th century. Even if you can't visit it because it houses a hotel, it's nice to look at from the outside.

              Ralswiek, more than a thousand years old, was once an important maritime trading center. Ralswiek is also an old settlement and was owned by various noble families from Rügen. Count Hugo Sholto Douglas had the castle built from 1894 to 1896 according to designs by the Berlin architect Gustav Stroh. In 1913, the stables were added based on a design by the Stralsund master builder Franz Juhre. The park surrounding the house was laid out in 1810 and later expanded and developed by Count Douglas. The largely preserved interior (entrance hall, staircase, paneling, door handles, stained glass windows) was partially designed by the renowned Art Nouveau architect Henry van de Velde. After the Douglas family was expropriated after the Second World War, the castle was used as a retirement home and later as a home for the disabled and a nursing home for the German Red Cross.

              ``` After the Raulff family acquired the castle, it was renovated from 1999 to 2002 to become the current Schlosshotel Ralswiek. It offers 63 stylishly furnished rooms and two suites. Our elegant castle restaurant also holds the "Regional Food Culture" certificate. Every year from June to the beginning of September, the renowned Störtebeker Festival takes place below the castle on the Ralswiek open-air stage. From our terrace, you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the open-air stage and the Great Jasmund Lagoon.
