The era of Bergen shipping came to an end in 1935. The master skipper from Ralswiek passed through the passage from the large to the small Jasmunder Bodden with his cargo sailor “Käte” for the last time and unloaded a load of bricks in the Bergen city port of Brahm.
This completed the port history of Bergen auf Rügen. Relics of this era have been preserved for the attentive observer and the cargo sailor “Käte” owned by the owner and skipper master is now in dry dock in Ralswiek and is being restored. The restoration was carried out according to the status of 1934. The cargo sailor is one of the last remaining ships of this type from the beginning of the 20th century. It was built in 1905 at the J.J. shipyard. Sietas built in Cranc-Neuenfelde near Hamburg. It has a steel hull with a wooden plank floor and a length of 19.81m, a width of 5.00m and a draft of 1.50m. In 1925, the skipper Friedrich Meister from a long-established Ralswiek family bought the cargo sailor with its home port in Ralswiek. In 1927, a now rare 35 hp glow-head engine was installed. The sailing ship, mostly loaded with general cargo, took the route from Stralsund to Stettin and also carried cargo to the port of Bergen.
