This wooden post mill is actually called "The Ingratitude Mill".

It owes its name to the fact that the carpenter and the miller never agreed on the price to be paid. The carpenter received, as it were, "a stench in return".

Initially, from its construction in 1802, it stood in La Motte-au-Bois, a sub-municipality of Morbecques, a little deeper in French Flanders. In 1884 it moved to Boeschepe.

The mill remained active until 1958. In 1964, the mill came into the possession of the municipality and in 1966, restoration of various parts began.

The complete restoration lasted until 1975. In 1977, the mill was registered as a "monument historique".

Guided tours are organised on Sundays and public holidays from 6pm from April to September (admission €2.50; free for children aged 6 to 12). Group visits are also possible by appointment.

The association “Friends of Ondankmeulen” manages the site.
