    The Arvigrat runs along the border of the cantons of Nidwalden and Obwalden. The whole way is a nice tightrope walk. The route only occasionally has somewhat narrower passages and therefore requires a little surefootedness and a certain head for heights, but everything is within normal limits. Starting from the Ächerli, the path first leads through wooded terrain. With the steady ascent towards the high point of the Arvigrat, the view increases more and more, and you can enjoy a fantastic view. A breath-taking mountain panorama opens up fabulous views of the Engelberg and Sarneraa valleys and the Nidwalden, Engelberg and Obwalden peaks far into the Bernese and Vaud Alps and even as far as the Jura.

                The direct route from Loch to Arvigrat is recommended as an ascent rather than a descent in wet conditions, as it consists entirely of roots, which are notoriously slippery. The descent isn't dangerous even in wet conditions, but it's certainly not fun! (From experience 😉)
