Built in 1240/50 by Otto II von Perchtoldsdorf (treasurer - hence the name) as an alternative to the often conquered Perchtoldsdorf Castle. In the course of a noble revolt against the beginning rule of the Habsburgs, besieged in vain and finally conquered and destroyed by a trick (pretending to be reconciliation and an invitation to Vienna) in 1290.
Little is left of the castle, the view is moderate and, because of the vegetation, only in autumn / winter. The subsequent "ruin trail" into the valley is only for experts.

A very nice trail leads past here that is not difficult (maximum S1 and not as stated by komoot as S2). Sightseeing and action in one go. The trail is interesting for beginners, for experts there are much more interesting trails in the vicinity.
