The Luisenturm is open 24 hours a day and can be visited free of charge. The view is definitely worth seeing! The attached restaurant is only open on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. It serves coffee, cake, and light meals.

The climb up the tower is definitely worth it for the view.

As an alternative to the gastronomy, there is also a shelter for the break, but on the benches in front of the restaurant you can sit in the sun even when it is closed.

Anyone who walks the Hermannsweg is roughly half-time here :-)

Great view from the tower. You can already see Ravensberg Castle from here. In the hut there are drinks and small dishes. The hut has September 2016 probably only on the weekend.

The Johannisegge is a 291 m high mountain in the Teutoburg Forest and is located about 1 km northwest of Borgholzhausen. On its summit is the 21 m high Luisenturm. From its 16-meter-high viewing platform, in good weather you can not only look over the Teutoburg Forest, but also in a northerly direction over the Ravensberger Land up to the Wiehengebirge. In the other direction you look in the Münsterland and thus in the large Westphalian Bay. Close up you can see the Borgholzhausen down in the valley.

From this tower you have a wonderful view in all four directions. But be careful: the steps are made of lattice - it was a bit dim when I went down.... At the foot of the tower there is a restaurant where you can linger. Directly in front of the tower you will find a small box with short audio stories "On the road with Anna & Hermann" and also a QR code for the stories.

This impressive lookout tower provides you with an awesome view across nearby Borgholzhausen, its surrounding hills and the flatlands of the northern Münsterland region. If climbing it makes you tired and hungry, you can replenish yourself at the gastatätte below (opened during the weekends).

This traditional observation tower on the Johannisegge offers the best views of the landscape. From its top platform, the view wanders over the Ravensberg hills, the Münstersche lowlands, the Wiehengebirge and the Weserbergland. On some days you can even spot the foothills of the Sauerland. The wooden tower is named after the popular Prussian Queen Luise (1776 – 1810). The first tower dates back to 1893. Thanks to the constant work of the local history association, it is now the fourth at this point and can be climbed at any time free of charge. A rustic rest stop in a hiking restaurant is available on the weekends.
