The Gallo-Roman temple district, popularly called "Juddekirchhof", was built in 124 AD by the Roman Marcus Victorius Pollentius in honor of the goddess CAIVA, a Celtic-Roman mother goddess. After the destruction by the Franks in the 6th century, the foundations and remains of the surrounding walls of the temple area have been preserved to this day.
