Army History Museum, Vienna

The Army History Museum - Military History Institute in Vienna is the military history museum of the Austrian Federal Army and previous Austrian armies. It documents the history of the Austrian military from the 16th century to the present, in particular using military technology such as weapons, vehicles and military equipment, but also in photographs, paintings and documents. Part of the museum is also dedicated to the history of the Austrian Navy. The federally owned museum is not affiliated with the Austrian Federal Museums, but is a directly subordinate department of the Federal Ministry of Defense.[ Since autumn 2019 there has been a controversy over the exhibition concept due to allegations of historical revisionism. The future of the museum and a new direction are being publicly discussed.
