The lower castle courtyard is generally accessible during the day, the upper castle courtyard is open at events. The Palas is opened for events and guided tours, individually after registration at the city information desk in the town hall. Group tours for up to 15 people cost 25 euros. Each additional person (up to a maximum of 25 people) costs 2 euros.

The Alzenau Castle is located northeast on a hill above the city. Due to its geographic location at Bavaria's most north-westerly gate, it has a special role to play here - in a sense, "at the very front in Bavaria".
