The arduous serpentine path up to the birch house past the engagement urn is really worth it. After a short effort uphill, the path continues in a relaxed manner and you can take a well-deserved rest at the Birkenhäuschen with a view of Alexisbad.
If you still feel like it, you can continue hiking on the pioneer path or cliff path to the Köthener Hütte.

The Birkenhäuschen is a refuge with a rest area below the Habichtstein summit on the hiking trail to the engagement urn. It was built in 1906 by the Köthen Harz Club branch from birch trunks. From here you have a beautiful view of the town of Alexisbad below in the Selke Valley.
