The church, which is one of the oldest stone sanctuaries, is part of the city's conservation area listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
According to legend, the name of the church "Na Náměti" is derived from the "swept" silver ore that fell from the vendors' tables during the trading of the market and was subsequently used to finance the construction of this church.
The Czech Baroque painter Petr Brandl is buried in the church, around which a park is located and where there used to be a cemetery.
