Today there are toll systems, formerly there were turnpikes, where you had to declare the goods and pay the right of way.

Between Prussia and the Kingdom of Hanover it hit travelers twice. He had to declare the goods and pay the Chausseegeld for the use of the streets. 150 years ago there were hardly any paved roads. The few fortified were therefore allowed to call themselves "Chausseen". For convenience, large, shady trees were planted. This travel comfort had to be paid accordingly. The state gave the municipalities the right to raise an amount.

Also here stood until 1976 a customs house. A toll plan regulated the amount of the toll. A Prussian mile (about 7.5 kilometers) cost ten pfennigs.
