The lake lies picturesquely in the valley and offers plenty of seating around it. The barbecue area at the foot of the waterfalls is particularly highlighted: three rotating grates are attached to the fire pit and there are not only many tables with benches, but also a drinking water fountain and two shelters - one for bicycles, for example. Great facilities!

The Sankenbachsee is a former karst lake southwest of Baiersbronn. It silted up around 3,000 years ago and could be artificially dammed up again because it lies below the Sankenbach waterfalls and is flowed through by the Sankenbach. In the 1980s, a low barrage was built at the outflow of the Sankenbach to protect the lake from silting up.

The lake is very suitable for swimming and resting. The lake is picturesquely situated in the valley and offers plenty of seating. There is a large BBQ area at the far end at the foot of the waterfall. Three rotary grates are attached to the fire pit and there are plenty of tables and benches as well as a drinking fountain and two shelters.

The Sankenbachsee invites you to rest and relax.

The Sankenbachsee is one of five cirque lakes in the Baiersbronn district. The Karsee was created in the last and penultimate Ice Age through glaciation. The Sankenbachsee is the only Karsee in which swimming is allowed and therefore invites you to cool off.

The lake and the adjoining wet meadows form a valuable biotope, which is why it is under nature protection today.

Near the lake are the waterfalls, a barbecue area, the game reserve and a playground. The Sankenbachtal is therefore ideal for a family hike.

The lake was created around 10,000 years ago when a glacier melted, but disappeared again 3,000 years ago. In 1980/81 a natural dam was created here again. This has created a beautiful leisure and nature reserve where you can enjoy taking a longer break.
Nice seating on the drainage side and a large barbecue area by the waterfall.
