The wolf table leaves a lot of room for speculation. While geologists talk about the natural weathering of a block of limestone, cannot detect traces of human processing, but cannot exclude them either, some historians assume that the Wolf's Table was formed by humans, weathered over time and by the gradual washing of the gently sloping ground has reached its current height. They interpret the site as a place of judgment in a burial ground or as a Germanic sacrificial or cult site, because its name seems to refer to Wodan, whose companions were two ravens and two wolves.

The rock formation known as the Wolf's Table stands approximately 1.5 meters high, just a few meters from a vertical precipice. The rock face and base of the Wolf's Table are composed of micritic limestone. Its slab is formed from the limestone of the Terebratula Beds, named after the index fossil, a shell-like brachiopod. The Wolf's Table, shrouded in myth, was formed by natural weathering. While no traces of human intervention are apparent, their presence cannot be ruled out. In ancient times, it is believed to have served as a site for judgment and sacrifice.
