Hochmeisterplatz has borne this name since 1892, before that it was called Buchwaldplatz. There was no church in Halensee until 1910. It was not until 1905 that a suitable plot of land was bought on an overgrown field and the architect Otto Schnock was commissioned to build a church. The church was badly damaged in the Second World War. A memorial stone at the entrance to the Hochmeisterkirche also commemorates the Holocaust and the pogrom night on November 9, 1938.

The Hochmeisterplatz is a block square in Berlin-Halensee on Westfälische Strasse, near Kurfürstendamm.
The square was renamed Hochmeisterplatz in 1892 from its former name "Buchwaldplatz". Before 1930, a green area with a children's playground was created by Erwin Barth. His plans also included a lower lawn and woodland plantings along the streets, but these were not completed and expanded until 1936. In 1959/60, seating was added to the ensemble.
The rectangular block square is bordered by nine streets. The square is characterized by its lawn, which is designed in a wave shape to prevent football games.
