A former imperial castle from the 10th century, which went into church ownership after transition, was expanded into a Benedictine monastery. Monks lived and worked here for more than half a millennium - until 1525, when the monastery was severely damaged as a result of a peasant war.
With the Reformation, the ecclesiastical use as evangelical. Monastery school until the 17th century away.
In the meantime, a foundation takes care of the preservation. She also takes care of the adjacent castle from the middle of the 19th century.
Here you can visit the monastery with a guided tour. Together with the adjoining 20-hectare landscaped park based on the English model, this results in a real cultural feature.
