Votive Church, Vienna
The Viennese Votive Church, a Roman Catholic church located next to the ring road in the Alsergrund district in the immediate vicinity of the main building of the University of Vienna, is one of the most important neo-Gothic sacred buildings in the world. The Ringstrasse Cathedral, built by the architect Heinrich Ferstel, dates back to the assassination attempt on the young Emperor Franz Joseph I on February 18, 1853 by the journeyman tailor János Libényi. With a height of 99 meters, the Votivkirche is the second highest church in Vienna.
