The oldest part of the monastery is in the Romanesque cellar. There is also an exhibition from the Ottonian period, and this is where you get the best impression of the early period.

Upstairs you can feel the wealth of the canonesses as you walk through the rooms. Since the monastery had its own garrison, old weapons can also be admired there.

A combination ticket with a visit to the monastery church costs €7

There is an interesting museum on the history of the Ottonians (in the Ottonian vaults) and beautifully restored state rooms. There are also Bronze Age finds in the museum.

Opening hours:

April to October:

Tuesday to Sunday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m

November to March:

Tuesday to Sunday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m

(closed on Mondays all year round, except Easter Monday and Whit Monday)

The museum is open on December 24th and 25th. and on January 1st. closed.

Entrance fees:

Due to construction work at and therefore also in the castle museum, there are restrictions.

Reduced entry prices from June 15, 2017:

Adults: €3.50 new (€4.50 old)

Discount: €2.50 new (€3.00 old)

Family ticket: €8.00 new (€9.00 old)

The castle hill with the collegiate church, the abbey and the adjoining houses form a unique ensemble. The view from the top is breathtaking. Climbing is worth every effort.
