With 3000 units, Regelbau 10 was by far the most frequently built bunker on the West Wall. It was a group shelter with an attached fighting room, that is, it had a room for 15 soldiers and a fighting room for a machine gun (MG). The machine-gun was located on a loop carriage which was attached to a concrete base. Different machine guns could be used on the mount. The disadvantage was that the soldiers had to leave the shelter to get into the combat area. The fighting area also had no armor for the frontally acting mouth sash. If necessary, it was closed with sandbags. There was a small rifle slot flanking it. Like all bunkers on the Siegfried Line, the group shelter was gastight (as a result of the gas attacks of World War I).

"The bunker on the path here is a standard building 10. It was [...] the most commonly built type and served as a shelter for 15 soldiers. Even with the doors and loopholes open, hardly any daylight came into the interior of the bunker. Artificial light was therefore necessary even during the day. [...] Only by operating the manual fan could the occupants be supplied with sufficient fresh air and prevented from suffocating." Source (quoted verbatim):
