          Numerous other streams, rivulets and ditches run through the Bienwald, mostly in a west-east direction. The main streams are the Heßbach (20.1 km), the Heilbach (22.9 km) with its right tributary Wiebelsbach (15.0 km) and the Schmerbach (19.1 km). Their water flow changes greatly depending on the weather, and in the summer months smaller streams often dry up. In contrast, in times of heavy rainfall the groundwater can rise to the surface and waterlog large areas.
